In 2010, I embarked on the journey to become a massage therapist out of a deep-seated desire to help others find relief from physical and emotional pain. Witnessing the transformative power of touch and its ability to alleviate stress and promote well-being inspired me to pursue a career in this field. The opportunity to directly impact people's lives in a positive way through healing touch and personalized care drove me to delve into the world of massage therapy.
Moreover, my fascination with the inner workings of the human body and its intricate mechanisms fueled my passion for becoming a massage therapist and now Rolfer®. The prospect of understanding how muscles, joints, and connective tissues function together, and how therapeutic touch can enhance their well-being, motivated me to delve into this profession. The ability to blend science with compassion and provide a holistic approach to wellness through massage therapy has been a fulfilling and rewarding experience for me over the years.
About Thomas:
The Rolfing 10 Series is a systematic protocol of ten sessions designed to address and optimize the body's structural alignment through the manipulation of connective tissue, or fascia. The series begins with a focus on improving overall body organization, with the first few sessions targeting the superficial layers of fascia to enhance movement efficiency and release surface-level tension. As the series progresses, the work delves deeper, addressing the more intricate layers and specific areas of the body, such as the shoulders, pelvis, and spine. Sessions are structured to progressively build upon each other, facilitating an integrated alignment that supports functional movement and relieves chronic tension. By the end of the series, the aim is to achieve a harmonious alignment of the body's structure, leading to improved posture, increased range of motion, and reduced discomfort.
About Rolfing:
Rolfing Structural Integration is a holistic approach to bodywork that aims to improve posture, alignment, and overall well-being. Developed by Dr. Ida Rolf, this method focuses on manipulating the body's connective tissues to create a more balanced and harmonious structure in gravity. By applying specific manual techniques, Rolfing practitioners work to release restrictions and realign the body's segments, resulting in improved movement, increased flexibility, and decreased pain.
About The Rolfing 10 series:
When preparing for a Rolfing session, it's best to wear comfortable, supportive clothing that provides ease of movement. Opt for clothing that is not restrictive and allows the Rolfer to access and work directly on the skin effectively. Stretchy cotton-based fabrics like yoga shorts, athletic top for women or other sports wear are good choices. Avoid clothing with belts, zippers, or buttons which may hinder the session. Synthetic material like spandex, nylon or polyester tend to offer too much glide and makes accessing the body’s fascial structures difficult. Additionally, wearing layers is a good idea so you can adjust your comfort level as needed during the session. Remember to remove any jewelry or accessories that could interfere with the session. Lastly, the ultimately choice of clothing is always to the discretion of each client. Please wear what will make you feel comfortable to the session.

The first session in a Rolfing 10 series typically focuses on assessing and beginning to release the superficial fascial tension in the body', laying the groundwork for deeper structural changes in subsequent sessions.
In the second session, the practitioner usually builds on the initial release work by further addressing alignment and mobility in the lower half of the body, often concentrating on integrating the changes made in the first session to enhance overall body organization.

The third session typically focuses on refining the relationship between the lateral aspect of the shoulders, torso and pelvis, aiming to improve overall balance and alignment by addressing patterns of restriction and tension in these key areas.
The fifth session focuses on optimizing the alignment and function of the thorax and pelvis, aiming to improve the integration of the prevertebral space and enhance overall stability around the lumbar dorsal hinge (LDH).
The seventh session works on releasing and reorganizing the connective tissue of the neck and head (including TMJ) to improve cervical mobility and support a more balanced and aligned posture.
The ninth session in a Rolfing 10 series typically aims to fine-tune the integration of the body’s overall structure by addressing remaining imbalances and ensuring that the alignment changes achieved thus far are fully embodied and functional in daily movements.
The fourth session targets the connection between the medial line of the body and the pelvic girdle, working to enhance the freedom of movement and support improved posture by releasing restrictions in the medial pelvic region.
The sixth session emphasizes refining the coordination between the posterior line of the sacrum to lumbars to ribcage and thoracic spine, working to balance the sacrum and vertebrae’s rotation and flexibility for improved overall functional movement and postural alignment.
The eighth session generally concentrates on integrating the structural changes made in previous sessions by addressing the connections between the torso and the legs, enhancing fluidity and coherence in the body's movement patterns.
The tenth session in a Rolfing 10 series often focuses on consolidating and fine-tuning the entire process by addressing any residual issues and reinforcing the newly established patterns of movement and alignment to ensure lasting balance and function.
